About the Port
A Destination Rooted in Heritage
Klawock Island is Alaska’s newest sustainable cruise destination, developed in partnership with Klawock-Heenya and Na-Dena`. The destination is designed to support sustainable tourism growth while ensuring that the people who call this land home remain at the heart of every experience. With a single-ship model and seamless connections to northern Alaska, it offers cruise partners a flexible addition to their itineraries. As Klawock Island welcomes travelers, it remains deeply rooted in its Tlingit heritage, where its culture is not just preserved but actively shared through art, storytelling, and the land itself.
A Partnership with Purpose
A Collaboration of Alaska Native Corporations
Three Alaska Native Corporations joined forces to create a new future for Klawock Island. Klawock-Heenya, the Native village corporation, provides the foundation of history and community stewardship, while Na-Dena`—a joint venture between Huna Totem Corporation and Doyon, Limited—brings decades of expertise in Alaska Native-led tourism. Together, they are creating a destination that honors tradition, generates opportunity, and delivers a meaningful guest experience. This collaboration ensures that Klawock Island’s future as a cruise destination remains rooted in culture, guided by sustainability, and built for long-term success.

For Cruise Lines
A Premium Destination
Klawock Island offers a crowd-free alternative to Alaska’s overbooked ports, giving cruise lines greater flexibility and travelers a new, immersive destination. This model allows for seamless itinerary planning while ensuring an exclusive, high-quality guest experience. Ships tender into a floating dock, welcomed by a breathtaking approach through two scenic fjords. Once ashore, guests step into a destination rich in culture, community, and tradition—delivering a true sense of place unlike anywhere else in Alaska.
Klawock Island is proud to hire locally for positions such as guides, guest services, security, and transportation. The destination offers seasonal and long-term roles for those looking to be part of Alaska’s growing tourism industry. In partnership with Klawock-Heenya and Na-Dena`, we are building an ecosystem where local expertise shapes the guest experience, creating opportunities for both employment and business collaboration.
